This simulator has been extended with the possibility of connecting real equipment in place of simulated equipment.
For the laboratory’s ETCS-ATO demonstrator, the acceleration and braking levers on the train console and the driver’s display (the ETCS DMI) can be used as input and output interfaces.
The dozen or so scenarios (level 1, level 2, shunting, etc.) supplied by default with the simulator enable drivers to put the simulated train into action, while manipulating a real traction and braking lever. Eventually, other buttons on the train console and a real ATO will be interfaced with the simulation.
