SAFETY RELAY – VITAL RELAY RS4: Traction control command

RS4 relays are the only relays that can be used in on-board applications. A critical on-board application was deployed to control the train’s circuit breakers. These circuit breakers are used to switch off electric motors. This application requires high power breaking capacity. The RS4 vital relay is capable of switching up to 137.5VDC/3A with specific wiring using four normally open contacts.
