Revamping lines to ERTMS
With the introduction of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), rail operators are having to upgrade many old tracks to the latest standards. These tracks, often decades old, are not always stored in digital databases, but are instead documented on paper or in the form of digitized plans in PDF format. Managing existing infrastructure and planning the development of railway lines in a modern, more automated way therefore presents major challenges. Before any automation can take place, an optimized data management process must be put in place:
- by translating a “paper” track plan, whether in image or PDF form, into a digital twin
- and representing the equipment required on the track
The CLEARSY Data Viewer responds to these needs thanks to its many years of experience in the development of track plan editors and the use of railway data.

The CLEARSY Data Viewer lets you design new rail lines or redesign existing lines and their associated equipment by manipulating data on an interactive track plan.
You can draw tracks, add, modify and delete objects or equipment as required. The icon library can be customized to adjust the visibility of elements, guaranteeing clear and appropriate visual representations. Finally, a background image (or PDF) can be imported, enabling you to draw over it to retrieve information from an old track.
This tool interfaces with the CLEARSY Data Generator to visualize automatically generated objects, and the CLEARSY Data Solver to visualize on the track plan the non-conformities (NOKs) identified by formal data validation (it is also possible to visualize NOKs from external validation tool reports).
We also offer training courses for customer operators if required, and specific functionalities can be developed on request.
